Hello, I’m Friendly.
I was an interactive mail art project in 2007.
I chose 365 people at random from the phone book and sent them a quote that meant something to me, one for each day of the year.
I also provided a reply postcard to send me a quote in return.
The unsolicited mail we receive is almost always impersonal: telling us to buy something or pay something. I did the opposite and sent something Friendly instead.
I also asked for something personal in return, initiating an interaction instead of a transaction.
I’m actually the second Friendly project. Here is the original Friendly.
