I can’t believe I never thought of it before, but I discovered this great new way to mix paint: on wax paper. The only downside is that I now feel a little bit silly about all the years I wasted laboriously scraping paint off of glass.
And then after doing tons of detail work on three or four pieces that are almost done (I will post images of them next week when I am 100% sure), I went back to my panels today and let loose.
Working on these, I purposefully work fast enough that my brain can’t keep up and get in the way. I had truly forgotten how good that feels. How it recalibrates your whole being. I think this is equally true of free writing or dancing.
I love my brain, and I think it’s a great tool, but sometimes I forget it doesn’t have the answers. Not the really big ones anyway. That comes from somewhere else.
