True story

A gradually increasing sense of boredom and dis-ease with my current paintings led me to throw it all out this week and start fresh. I am now less certain where I am going than I have been in, oh, twenty years.

I am a painter but what seems to want to emerge is a whole lot of words. Words about my family and also words about the history of our country, which I have been doing a lot of reading about. Words about how the two connect.

I finally started painting them today, and although the destination is still unknown, I am finding joy in my work again, and trouble shutting down for the day, so I know these are the breadcrumbs I have been looking for. Away we go…
