I Want To Be: Wood & Water Mural #2

Each week children from the Beacon Afterschool Program take part in CommunityGrows, an environmental education program that teaches high-needs youth about gardening, nutritious cooking, and green jobs.

wood & water gone but not forgotten

I was honored to have the opportunity to create a temporary mural with them. I had them each make a flower out of their hand prints and then, in the center, write something they want to be, reflecting a different kind of seed that they get to plant, nourish, and grow in their lives.

Many thanks to Barbara Wenger and Nora Brereton of CommunityGrows for making it happen, to Lara de Garie for shooting the video, to Alison Dale for video editing, and to Andy Cabic for the beautiful music.
